I use a MacMini with iTunes and the Sonos controller software. I have moved the music files from the MacMini to the shared folder \\SERVER\Music on the Windows home server.
In iTunes I changed the place for the music files from the local hard disc to the shared folder on the Windows Home Server. This works fine. iTunes has acces to the music files, I can rip new CD's etc. In the Sonos controller I changed the music library to point onto the shared folder on the WHS. This works, at least there is no error message in doing that. But when I look into the Sonos library it is empty. Maybe that has nothing to do with the WHS and I miss something concerning shared folders. Any ideas? Flenser |

Since it was showing up when the music was on the Mac mini it's a safe assumption the music is tagged correctly. My guess is we're pointing to the wrong place. Double check the share you added in Sonos and then type that exact address into the Mac and see what's there.
On the Mac, click Finder > Go > Connect to Server > smb://ServerName. Check the folder you shared with Sonos and ensure there is music in there. Also ensure you remove your old shares from the Sonos system. If it still doesn't show up, (even under Folder view in the Music Library), I would give Support a call today as they can check a diagnostic and compare with what you're seeing. Hi Jason!
Thanks for the quick reply. I checked it in the Finder and there I can see the files. In the folder view in Sonos there is nothing. I will contact support. Kind regards, Flenser |

Sorry if this is too obvious but ... did you try asking the Sonos to rebuild the library since you moved iTunes?

I am having the same problem on the new Windows Home Server. I can enter the network info and no problems are reported but it doesn't see the music in the folder. I will call Tech Support.

At this time Sonos is currently incompatible with Windows Home Server. We've spent some extensive amounts of time with customers on the phone troubleshooting but have been unable to get it to work. The share will add, but nothing shows up.
This has been flagged to Product Management/development to look into. I apologize for the inconvenience. -Jason

I figured that it was a bug due to WHS or Sonos or both. Not a big issue. When you get around to a fix, I will be happy to test.
Until then, I guess I will use Internet Radio or keep a copy of my music elsewhere. Alan |

Any updates on this? I believe RC1 of Windows Home Server should be out any day now. I'm wondering if that will fix the issue.

I use a Buffalo Terastation but I've had some non-Sonos-related issues with it and have really been liking the idea of WHS. I do hope this resolves well and sooner than releases. of WHS.
