Default UK radio station solution

Hi, all. The threads in this forum have caught my attention, especially with the demand of UK radio stations. Since I run www.radiofeeds.co.uk , I'd like to know if the Sonos system has an in-built directory of radio stations from the UK. I could perhaps provide a live feed for Sonos so people can access stations with up-to-date addresses.

If someone could explain how the internet radio portion of Sonos works, I'd be grateful.

There's a global XML feed that Sonos updates.

You can set Sonos to fetch updates every night if you want.

The best way to get stations onto the list is to request them on these forums. Sonos do have quite strict quality parameters that have to be met before they put them on the list, however.

there are already some UK feeds on this.

I would like to think in a future update that more market-specific or even fully customised lists will become available.

Cheers,

Keith

Well, I'm glad Sonos have strict quality parameters, as I do, too! I'm rather happy to reject internet-only stations that are most likely broadcast from a bedroom somwhere. I'm also relatively aware of different properties of live streams, such as server-generated playlisting and servers ONLY using the mms protocol - both of which may be nightmares in terms of compatibility.

I only intend to offer the feed directly to Sonos's own directory, and not via any other more public means. Would Sonos welcome such a resource? Would Sonos users welcome such a resource?
