Let me add my voice to the chorus looking for a "recent additions" function. I think it would be a big addition.

Default Newest albums...

I often add new albums to the NAS and would love to have a view that sorts albums by latest added. This would help rest of the family to find the newest albums without knowing what I have added.

psoderlund,

I've merged your post with a thread on this topic. Read through for various suggested workarounds.

Default add "recent additions" to the sonos controller

It would be great to have the option to quickly view albums that have been added to the music library in the last week or so. This way, users could quickly access their recently added content.

Recently saw the Logitech squeezebox and though it's inferior to Sonos, I was attracted to the option in its main menu of 'Recently Added Music'.

I simply can't understand why Sonos can't add this little bit of functionality to the Music menu (assuming the index stores date added etc). Also, it would be great to have the option of defining the time period used eg last week/month etc.

Sonos is supposed to make finding music easier!

The index does not store date added. The index stores artist, album artist, album, composer, genre, title, and path/filename.

The indexing process does note new/changed files so one supposes it could flag these up somehow. It would be pretty rudimentary though, and as it stands a fresh indexing scan would wipe such info.

+1 more for a "recent additions" function. The 'workarounds' listed that I've seen seem a bit clunky...

It would be much more user friendly to have an automatically generated playlist of recently added music - similar to itunes 'recently added'.

Thumbs down

Amazing... this topic was created 5 years ago, many work-around solutions, but no official one ! Sonos do a really really great job, so I don't understand why this "automatic playlist" is so hard to create !

I had this function on my old Logitech Squeezebox many years ago.

Well then, you should run right out and purchase a brand spanking new Squeezebox, shouldn't you?
