Default Streaming Nature Sounds?

Hi all,

I thought it might be fun to track down some online audio streams that contain atmospheric nature sounds such as ocean waves, thunderstorms, sounds of the rainforest, etc.

So far, my Googling efforts have turned up nil.

Thanks everybody!

Hi,

I Googled for "nature internet radio", clicked on the first result, and found these URLs you can program into Sonos to listen:

http://209.9.227.68/rainforest
http://209.9.227.68/water
http://209.9.227.68/rain
http://209.9.227.68/beach
http://209.9.227.68/waterfalls
http://209.9.227.68/ocean

I'm sure there are many other stations like this out there. You might want to search on Shoutcast and Live365 since they have such large databases.

Great idea... i'm going to add these to my list. Good for a nursery or going to bed.

I just thought of a Google trick, and this returns a lot of nature radio stations. In Google search for exactly the following:

nature sounds site:www.live365.com

This returns quite a bit of results, and more or less they seem to be relevant. Also, here's a link to an FAQ we have about how to add Live365 stations to Sonos:

I cancelled my live365 sub as I couldn't get the hi-quality sound feed to come through the internet URL...you have to use their player on a PC.

Interesting... the post just below this in the same forum only 4 months ago confirms the premium stations work fine:

Have you seen this not work since then?

I have just registeres, but when I go to http://209.9.227.68/rain it asks for a username and password. I give 'em, but don't get through.

Can anyone advise please?

I use the series "sounds of nature" in the bathroom in the morning. Rhapsody also has them.

Default Nature Sounds HD

If you subscribe to Rhapsody, search Nature Sounds and one of the results is Nature Sounds HD. It has non music nature sounds that include rain storms, thunder storms, seaside waves, country sounds, river sounds, etc. Most are only 6 minutes, but you can set them up on a loop and get some great ambient nature background sounds.
