+1 for me. great idea to restrict usage.
Simply idea of having a password restricting controllers for use in certain times / zones (and restricting volume levels) would be great. |

Having converted to the Sonos solution, I have most of my living areas controlled by sonos. The problem I have is that one of those zones is my bedroom and I don't want my kids accidently attaching a zone or thinking its funny by setting an alarm that turns my speaks on at 4am!
So what I would like to see is the option to password protect zones, a 4 digit pin would be fine and then if i wanted to access or attach the 'Master Bedroom' to my zone that i was playing, i would need this pin access. thoughts? |

I'm in the process of a new build and want to incorporate a full SONOS system. However the lack of zone control and access is a real issue. I want to ensure guests cannot control music in other zones and having some kind of PIN controlled access or tying a controller to a specific zone would be ideal.
After so many requests and many users asking for this feature, I'm surprised this hasn't been implemented. It's a real restriction for this system and must be a complete non starter for any commercial setup. Surely SONOS are missing out on a commercial market by not implementing this feature not to mention the problems others have mentioned in a home setup with guests or kids!! Please SONOS can you implement this feature. |

This would be a great feature to have. The ability to create private zones or having PIN protected zones, where you could set up a pin code in the zone player settings and you would need to enter the pin on the controller to control he zone. Having the ability to restrice access to the settings options inthe PC controller would be good as well.

Sonos, has there been any discussion for this enhancement to be implemented? Your lack of response concerns me to the point that I may not choose to expand my music network with sonos. Craigslist here we come.... Please give us an update. If you aren't developing this feature, can you explain why because it seems to have a lot of merit? Too complex? The programmer left for antartica back in 2007? Thank you for any info.

As to the threat of Craigslist or other sites (E-bay is the usual choice), I'll ask what I've asked others: Including your pet peeve about restricting zones (which as far as I know is not available on any multi-zone system), exactly what will you replace your Sonos with? Squeezebox or Apple, which use standard WiFi and are unreliable? Multi-zone wired systems, which cost 5X as much as Sonos and require ripping out walls? |
