Default Looking for small speakers for a connect

The connect is in my office and for about a year now I have been using it with Logitech Z5500 5.1 speakers.

Speakers are good but a real mess for cable management! Looking to replace them with somethin, aesthetically pleasing, small, good and under 500$.

At the moment I am leaning on B&W MM-1's but I really would not mind paying half or less what the MM-1's go for.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Hi,

The Audio Engine range is good value in my opinion, I use a pair with a Connect in a small study. The Audio Engine 5 is $399, http://audioengineusa.com/Store/Audioengine-5-Plus

Cheers
Chris

Paradigm has an inexpensive line of bookshelf speakers. I've a pair of Atoms (10x6x8") connected to a Connect:Amp in my office (9x12 with balcony) and they sound just fine. Don't think I'd want to try them in too big a room but they should be perfect for a small study.

That's nice, but the OP has a Connect, not the Connect:Amp, so he needs powered speakers.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot to choose from, especially in that price range.

I would reccommend a pair of powered studio monitors. There are lots out there to choose from in all price ranges. Here is a model that is at the max of your price range: http://www.amazon.com/Mackie-MR8mk2-...eywords=mr8mk2
I bought the 5" model of these for my son in his dorm room. These were the best sounding on his entire floor. He is now using them for recording mix tracks. They definately fill a small to medium sized room and have decent bass response for a small cabinet size. I am sure the 8" model is even better. There are also other models that will fill the bill. These studio monitors all have a neutral response that might be dull for some listeners that prefer bright overequalized sound but you can apply tone controls to adjust for this. Go to a pro audio or music store and audition some of these.

MM-1's are really weak for the money.

I like the JBL Pro LSR2325P.

Another good 5" monitor at a great price the KRK Rokit 5:

Aesthetically appealing for their yellow cones.

These Adam Audio A3X monitors are a little over your price range, but have ribbon tweeters that some listeners rave about: http://www.amazon.com/Adam-Audio-2-w...words=adam+a3x The LF drivers are only 4.5", reducing bass response, but the highs are exceptional.

How are you getting on with the audio engines? I have the A2s, and I have to say that they are serious, serious quality for absolutely Mikey Mouse money

Very nicely actually, sound is great and i really like the look, very simple and clean.

Also hard to argue with the price, very happy i got these for 180$ instead of paying 500$ for the MM-1's

Thanks for the advice!
