Default Best basic, low cost NAS to work with Sonos?

I know this has been asked a zillion times, so pls excuse the zillion-and-first time.

What I want: Looking to purchase a basic, low cost, DNLA-enabled NAS that I can plug into my router via ethernet cable and use as the source for streaming music with Sonos. Must work in Mac environment (no Windows machines in house). My main iTunes library is on a Mac, and I plan to keep it there. Will copy the iTunes music folder to the NAS for use with Sonos.

Want to pay under $200 for 1TB NAS. Do not need or intend to use NAS for file back-up, FTP, personal cloud or file sharing. Just want to use as Sonos music source.

Looking at products like Buffalo LinkStation Live LS-XL and LaCie Network Space 2. Both have more features than I need though.

Any comments on these devices, or suggestions on other NAS devices to look at? Thx

Western Digital My Book NASes are relatively popular here. They're easy to use, come with Twonky DLNA installed, and support AFP as well as the SMB/CIFS which Sonos requires.

For 154 Canadian at Costco with a 2TB drive I know of no cheaper solution.

Default Which WD?

Thx Ratty. Are you referring to the Western Digital My Book Live 1 TB Personal Cloud Storage Drive? If so, seems to get less stellar reviews on Amazon, but maybe for the features that I don't need ...

I guess so. "Personal cloud" sounds like the latest flavour of marketing -- and possibly feature -- creep. They used to be simply a WD My Book World network storage unit.

How about a recommendation for a NAS which has bittorrent feature, easy to setup for a newbie and something quiet and under £150 preferably.
Doesn't have to be a duo type as I always keep my files backed up on various exteranal HDD's.

Thanks

I use a D-Link DNS-325 that I got on sale from Tigerdirect.com for $99 US w/free shipping. This is a driveless box and you will need to buy at least one bare internal drive for it. I see their price is now up to $120, but it is still a good deal. You can get 1Tb internal drives for $80 to use. There is your $200 limit and you have an extra unused drive bay for later expansion. Here is a link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...542&CatId=2670

May not be "basic and low cost", but if you are looking for a good NAS, get a Time Capsule.

Though expensive, it includes a NAS, a wireless backup, a router, printer/usb server, and an ethernet switch all in one (:

Chances are he already has a router and switch though...

If you want features spend a few more bucks and get a QNAP ts-112.

I was looking for a router too as I have the Virgin Media Superhub, so want a new one for a decent Wifi signal.
The Time Capsule seems to have mixed reviews from what I've seen. I did have a look at the Qnap TS-112, but after reading some reviews alot of users said it's quite an effort to setup and not really for novices.....
