I am having a great deal of trouble connecting the Sonos system to the NAS drive.

Sonos will only accept the 'root' folder of the share.
Enter "\\MyBookLive\Public" instead. |

I have tried that as well....
Could it be that all of my music is in files based upon artist/album and then songs. |

Sonos doesn't care about directory structure. It builds the index from the tags.
When you setup the library using the Desktop Controller, select "On a networked device such as a network attached storage (NAS) drive" and then simply type in the network address "\\MyBookLive\Public" (minus the quotes). |

When I do that I get a error message that says:
Sonos was unable to add the music folder. Please check the path to the folder and if the user name and password are correct. The computer MyBookLive is not responding. (I do not have any passwords setup) |

Strange. The WD My Book NAS are usually very easy to use with Sonos.
I take it that you have no problem accessing the \Public share from your computer. Have you rebooted your router recently? This can cause address confusion, possibly explaining your symptoms. |

Rebooted every device.... Sonos Still says that the MyBookLive is not responding... although I can see every file via windows.
Any other ideas? |

A rolling reboot may confuse things actually. For a clean reset you'd need to power everything on the network off, restart the router, then each device in turn working out from it.
Describe your Sonos system. What's wired and wireless? What controller are you using? Where is the NAS wired in? |
