Thanks for the update.
Wonder what the alternative will be...? Lot of speculation but not a lot of fact at the mo. |

I have been a Sonos user since 2009 but was unaware of this forum.
I am really happy with the Sonos system, the design and simple user interface. The CR200 is an excellent controller but cost me around $AUS550. There are two issues with the controller. The 1st is that if new technology, such as iPhone etc can replace the CR200 at a lower cost and with the same functionality, then thats fine. However no mention is made on the Sonos website that the CR200 is being phased out because of new technology and you can still buy the CR200 on their website. The 2nd is more serious. The controller seems to have a serious manufacturing defect and my 2nd controller has the same problem as my 1st controller i.e. bottom of screen no longer works. Many Sonos customers have had the same problem according to this forum. I thought that I would get, at least, 5 years from the controller. Apart from the cost, I suspect that Sonos is withdrawing the CR200 because of the manufacturing defect. If Sonos was honest and told users this problem, then most users would appreciate that manufacturing defects can happen. Unfortunately, Sonos has failed to do this and their credibility has taken a nose dive. No doubt they will recover, however Sonos is making a major marketing drive in Aus and needs to keep their existing customers onside. I understanding that Sonos is not giving replacement controllers so I will be seeking a full refund of $408 so I can buy a iPod for $AUS219 & the Sonos charger/Dock for the iPod for $AUS189. Total $AUS408. I think this is reasonable as I will still be losing $142 from my original purchase. In Australia we have very good Fair Trading rules. It would be good if Sonos would comment on my post. |

The warranty period has been extended to two years. I don't recall ever seeing a post claiming that their CR200 had this issue, and where Sonos hadn't replaced the unit under warranty.

I've never had a single problem with my CR200.
I like the hard buttons for the volume and mute. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 with the app loaded on it but I don't use it to control the system - I got tired of having to find my tablet, enable the wi-fi connection, starting the app and waiting for it load and then hunting around for the feature I want. The Android app does NOT have the same layout and functionality as the dedicated controller. Plus the layout of the app is horrible on a tablet. It is stretched so badly that the graphics are distorted there is no option to use a landscape mode with a layout similar to the PC controller - I actually like the PC controller layout better than the Android app! |

So, after my third controller failed i contacted Sonos asking for my money back, i think this one lasted approx 6 months. I have now had a response that i can't have my money back as it has gone past the 30day money back period. Surely we have a right to a refund as the product is not fit for purpose?
I also use my ipod touch to controll things and that takes a lot of hammer and that doesn't break - i wouldn't mind if i was a heavy user of the CR200!. Thanks a lot Sonos, quality products at high prices that don't even last. Oh well, not a lot i can do now :-(, Matt |

Well, I had posted previously that my CR200 was running flawlessly for the last 3 years or so.
Last week it failed and I contacted Sonos support - I sent mine in as requested and received a replacement within 3 days. Great customer service Sonos and I surely hope Sonos will introduce a proper replacement for the CR200. I love it and will be buying one more to keep as spare when mine collapses in a few years! |

My In-Laws were down last week. Grandpa picked up the CR200 and was tuning in his favorite stations quickly. We was quite happy to sit in the Living Room next to the Play:3 and work his crossword puzzles while listening to his stations.
I could have sold him a system right there - but only with a controller. He has no Smartphone or i-Anything, nor will he. He figured out the CR200 in five minutes and used it for the rest of his stay. Sonos, you gotta keep that functionality in-house.

Several members of my family wouldn't put up with that. Some would, and for them, I agree, an Android device will suffice.
