Just to endorse buzz's comment, as a regular listener to KBPK I would prefer to use the stream selected by Sonos via the Radio|Search feature, and stored in my Favorites. This provides the correct station logo, but the audio is invariably useless!
Add a New Station KBPK2 manually, using http://173.192.40.82:80/kbpk and no artwork is available, but the station stream is consistently quite dependable. Can't quite understand why neither tunein.com or the station itself have never got round to a fix for this! But I guess that's internet radio for you!

@Clay Sonos
Anything else you discovered from the diagnostic information? What else can I try to solve the problem? |

Hi -
I have a similar problem... I have two Play 3's - the first is hardwired into my router, the other connected wirelessley. The wirless units streams uninterrupted internet radio, however, the hard wired unit breaks up every 30 seconds or so. Rebooting, stopping/starting, etc., etc. has not solved the problem. |

maceyroberts,
First post! Welcome to the forums. As an experiment, physically swap the two units. |

I seem to have pretty much the exact same problem as the original poster with a wireless Play:5 and Play:3. I have submitted a diagnostic and will let you know what the outcome will be.

Just to add to this thread...
I have also been troubled with intermittent 'pops' on internet radio reception for a month or so. I had put it down to wireless interference as 90% of the stream is excellent quality. Sometimes, the stream is lost completely but recovers after several seconds (or more) silence. This led me to believe it was down to WiFi interference but I do not have the same problem listening to my music library so it can't be that. BBC Local radio is the worst! I am now wondering if it is BBC streaming is also a culprit. Andy |

I've got the same problem, I don't think it's the network as the other zones in the group play uninterrupted.
I"ve tried changing the channel to 1 and 11, neither made a difference. Any other suggestions? or do I take it back for a replacement unit? Thanks, Gareth |

To everyone reporting issues of this nature, I would request to see diagnostics of the issues so we can at least take a look at some of the errors being reported rather than just notification of the drops. Additionally, unless the confirmation number gets posted or sent to me via Private Message I won't be able to track it down.
For instructions on submitting a diagnostic, click here. As for elfrigo's issue - can I ask what your primary DHCP server / device is?

Hi all,
I don't listen to internet radio too often, but was tonight and I experienced this or a similar issue. I was listening to a SiriusXM station in two zones (Living Room, hard wired; and Kitchen, wireless). Never any problems at all -- ever. I turned on a radio station stream, and the kitchen kept dropping out, but the living room was fine. I then switched back to SiriusXM, and all was fine. So, not quite sure if it's a wireless or other issue, but I submitted diag #2034979 if it helps... |

Hi all
I'm using at the moment an other system but intend to move to Sonos this week replacing the competition product. However, at my weekend location, I have already Sonos in place and therefore, I can compare the products. This weekend, I took a play3 to my home and connected to test. The break outs from radio stations are with both systems, randomly and seldom. The other system has a buffer function for the radio stations, e.g. if you have a short interrupt on the internet connection, it buffers for e.g. 20 seconds, therefore you don't notice the break out. The point is, if you listen with your PC, you don't recognize the breaks as the PC is "sort of too slow". On the music systems, you will hear it asap, which is annoying. Do you have the break outs during days or only evening ? Week days or weekends ? Can you trace your internet connection for breaks in the millisecond area. Does the Sonos system has a buffer function build in ? I have not found any hint to this question yet. (Clay-sonos, can you probably answer this one?) Regards Rolf |
