Has anyone tried these?

Not too convinced in terms of design, but this might be an area where Sonos could link to recommended suppliers for their PLAY devices.

I don't have any of my 5 S5/S3 units on a stand, but they are all off the floor.
If you have the option, maybe you can use other bits of furniture.
My choices (not for everyone I am sure) are :
1. In a big floor-standing flower pot (behind the actual plant - it's a fake plant !)
2. On the bottom shelf of a 2 tier stand for flower pots.
3. Inside an antique fire surround (has a metal/enamel grill)
4. On the bottom shelf of a towel rack (bathroom)
5. On the top surface of an antique Canterbury book/music stand (What's a Canterbury ? - See : More Images #2 on http://antiques.about.com/od/furniture/a/Canterbury.htm
