Default TIP: Can't see iTunes playlists

In searching the forums for solutions to my problem, I didn't see this possibility mentioned. Here's a tip for anyone having this problem.

After changing over to a new computer recently, I was unable to see my iTunes playlists as Imported Playlists on my Sonos controllers. I was clearly connected to my iTunes music, as I could see and play individual songs, artists, and albums ... just no playlists.

After doing some research, I realized I had set up my iTunes share incorrectly. The path to the actual music files is My Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music. So I added the last folder -- Music -- as my iTunes share.

Turns out that the iTunes playlists are stored in the iTunes folder. So by burrowing down to the Music folder, I had excluded the folder with the playlists in it.

None of the forum questions about iTunes playlists not appearing mention this fact. Maybe this will help someone in the future.

Thanks for the heads up.

It is actually covered in the FAQs:

Where are my iTunes playlists located so I can add them to my Sonos library?
iTunes playlists are stored in a XML file named iTunes Music Library.xml.
- On a Windows PC, this file is located in your C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes folder.
- On a Mac, this file is located in your Music\iTunes folder.
