Hello, I have four ZP90s and one ZP 120, all purchased from the US on a trip about half an year ago. They were set up and working fine previously. I have recently reinstalled my computer and installed Sonos Desktop Software 3.3, and it keeps telling me I need to update the desktop software, and the Zone Players are running an older version of the Sonos software and if I wanted to update.
The "Checking for Updates" window would pop up, then I would get an "Error Checking for Update, please check your internet connection or try again later". I downloaded the iPad controller app and got it to connect to my network. It also says "Some of your Sonos Components need to be updated. Press Update to update your Sonos Components". I press "Update" and it checks, then gives me the same error "There was a problem in checking for updates. Please check your Internet Connectionor try again later". There is nothing wrong with my internet connection. I tried setting up two different routers and get the same message. Is it possible that 1.) the server is down, or 2.) the update server is no longer accessible from China?? Please help ! |

Doesn't the Chinese government restrict which sites you can get to? Is it possible the update site is blocked?

That's what I am afraid of... blocked site. It was working fine half an year ago (the last time I've updated, when I first bought the system)

Same problem for me: normally living in Germany, I'm in Beijing for one year. I arrived before the release of the V.3.3. I took one S5 with me but was unable to get it running 'til now. It always needs an update which cannot be done.
The desktop controller also wants to make an update, without any success :-(. Any solution ? At least with the desktop controller I should be able to get the update via a VPN. But what about the player ? I'm really disapointed. |

Contact support. They may be able to help you.
Sonos have just been establishing an office in China which includes a support team. I would have thought the ability for Chinese users to access updates would have been a high priority for them. Cheers, Keith

According to Google (!) the Sonos product line should hit China in late November... so the firmware update issue must be close to being solved.

IIRC, v3.3 was mostly about Spotify and the WirelessDock. If everything is working okay, why not just turn off the automatic check for updates for the time being?
