Default Sonos + Goldmund

I also like it simple...

Sonos ZP90 via digital out directly into a pair of Goldmund 18.4 mono's with internal DACs, which in turn drive Floating Synthese 2 (MKII) speakers. I control the Sonos with whatever is around (Macbook, iPhone or iPad).

I also use the digital volume control of the ZP90. The 18.4s have the input attenuators set at -9dB. This way, the ZP90 volume has to be cranked up considerably and losses or signal degradations (if any at all) remain at a minimum at normal listening volumes.

Default Sonos + teddyDAC

Just an update from my previous post, now with seperate DAC.

ReadyNAS Duo storing flac files
ZP90 Audiocom Signature mod. + Abbey Road Carbon power lead
OCC Silver digital co-ax cable
TeddyDAC D-A Converter + Russ Andrews Ref Signature power lead
Nordost Blue Heaven interconnect
Exposure 2010S amp
Nordost Gold bi-wire speaker cable
PMC OB1 speakers

A massive improvement to the sound quality with the addition of the TeddyDAC with better definition, clarity and a noticable 3D sort of effect.

CD's ripped to FLAC using dBpoweramp >
ZP90 > CA DacMagic via Black Cat Veloce cable > Tube buffer (using EAT ECC88 tube) > NAD pre > Rotel RMB-1095 amp > KEF Q900 speakers.
Couldn't be happier!!!

Default Sonos icing on the cake

1. Zp90 to Marantz SACD player via digital coax and then to Quad 99/909 amplification driving Harbeth C7ESR speakers.
2. Zp120 to Spendor S3/5 SE speakers.
3. Zp90 to Yamaha AX 397 amp via analog wire and then to Bose 251 external speakers.

The Bose have their limitations, but do fine in the balcony. The other two systems are brilliantly driven by Sonos.

And by bringing the play 5 into the party area at home, superb all around coverage of music selected by the very convenient iPod touch app.

My brother-in-law came in from Denver to look at and buy a pair of Avantgarde Duo's and an Avantgarde Acoustic Model 5 amp. The owner feed FLAC's from a Mac and also feed music from the Sonos Connect. This demo sold me and I ended up buying a Bridge and Connect a couple days later. In the picture, the Duo's are in front and the Trio's are in the back.

The metal and wood thing in the middle is a 1500w sub.....

Sorry for the bad shot.....

1. ZP90 dig out into Naim DAC, Naim SuperNait to PMC GB1.
Simply stunning already, but thinking of getting ZP90 modded ?gert volks or audiocom.
2. ZP90 into Sony 2.1 surround system in main TV room.
OK, but no more than that . . .
3.Play 3 in kitchen.
As good as 2. but need to experiment with position of unit to minimize base boom.
4. Play 3 in conservatory.
Not the best environment for sound quality with virtually 80% glass walls/ceiling but it does sound ok when plenty of bodies at the table!
Battery/rechargeable Play 5 eagerly awaited for summer barbies . . . !

Flac - Player 90 - Stahl Tek Vekian D/A - EAR 912 Pre Amp - BSG Tech Signal Completion Stage - Bryston 28B SST's - Magico V5's + twin 12" REL subwoofers (All Synergistic Research Cabling). And when I'm feeling frisky I swap in the EAR 890 tube amp's.

Haven't tried the Sono's on the 5 channel Meridian System (DSP 8K's up front with DSP 5500 Center & DSP 5200's in the back)as of yet. But I can only assume it would sound great.

Personally the interface gives the old Sooloos a run for it's money...

Flac files.
Modded Sonos:
Sonos clock removed.
Empirical Audio Pace Car Reclocker with UltraClock.
Empirical Audio Monolith battery power supply for Pace Car.
Benchmark DAC-1.
SimAudio W-6 Monoblocks.
Aerial Acoustics Model 9 speakers.

Experimenting with acoustical treaments - DIY tube traps and ATS Acoustic panels.

connect > Flac, Rhapsody, Pandora
to
Krell KAV-300IL
to
Infinity Kappa 600

All in a Monster HTPS7000 & AVS2000

Need a DAC, not sure where to start due to the extremely cold nature of my equipment...
