Hi,
I just got my sonos in the mail and set it up. My system includes a zp90, zp120 and the speakers. I have each of my zone players set up and working, but I can't connect either my ipod touch or my iphone as controller. They simply don't find the zoneplayers when I try to set them up. I'm very frustrated since now I have no controller! I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions I can find in the help and none of them have worked. I've turned all combinations of routers and zoneplayers off and on again and nothing is working. |

mkasper00,
First post! Welcome to the forums. Have you tried to use a SONOS desktop controller? A both PC and Mac versions are on the CD. Can your iTouch display Internet content? |

Do you have a wifi router or access point?
Cheers, Keith

To expand on Majik's question above...
An iPhone or iPod touch will not talk directly to a Sonos Zoneplayer wirelessly - it requires a wireless access point on your home network (either built into your router or a separate device) - the iPhone talks via this, over your home network to the Zoneplayer which has the wired connection to your router (using standard WiFi and TCP/IP protocols). From there it can control all the Zoneplayers as per normal. This differs from the dedicated hardware Sonos controllers (CR-100, and forthcoming CR-200), which can communicate directly with the Zoneplayers over their wireless interface (using the proprietary Sonosnet - something the iPhone doesn't understand). This detail is noted, though not very prominently, in the "Features" section of the web page for the iPhone controller, where it says "The iPhone and iPod touch connect to your Sonos system through your home WiFi network." |

One or two more things to note. From the troubleshooting part of the associated help doc, I have verified it is not a DHCP problem. I have also turned off my windows firewall as well as tried to plug my computer directly into the zp120. None of these things worked. Yes it can. I can surf the internet and see that I am connected the my wifi network (not another nearby hotspot) Yes, I have a netgear router that is connected to my zp120. My zp90 is in my bedroom. Both play music. Last edited by mkasper00; Jul 23rd, 2009 at 04:59 AM. Reason: Additions |

It might be an idea to call Sonos support on this one. Cheers, Keith

Just a thought, but the Netgear router doesn't have options which filter traffic between wifi and wired does it? Apart from the iTouch obviously needing to see the ZonePlayers' IP addresses, AFAIK it will also want to be able to set up a multicast group.
