Default KCRW Music Stream

Like so many others, KCRW has now gone FLASH, introducing a nasty third party between me and my music: Adobe Corporation.

They say the old iTunes MP3 based "legacy" streams are still there, but they don't seem to work.

This is what comes up in iTunes that I try to plug into Sonos:

http://scfire-dll-aa03.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1045

No luck; this is also the streaming URL that is part of the Sonos database itself.

Can someone please provide the correct URL to use to listen to KCRW's Music Stream (not the Simulcast)

Typing KCRW into the search feature in the Sonos Controller returns 3 playable stations within Sonos.

Is it not one of these??

Default Two work, one doesn't

The Simulcast and News feeds work, but the music feed does not work anymore.

Music feed does not work for me either.

It's a curious error message "Unable to play" (name of station) " - unable to connect to RadioTime".

Default How to we let Sonos Tech Support Know

Can you notify Sonos? I have contacted KCRW. radiotime.com labels this feed as "unreliable" but it has worked perfectly for the last two years, and only recently failed.

Sonos staff reads everything on the forum. It is probably marked "unreliable" because RTs automatic checks are failing. RT should automatically be alerted to this and they will either refresh the url, or no longer offer it, depending on whether they can find a new url.

The stream quality of the KCRW Music (Santa Monica) in the Sonos built-in stations is horrible--probably sub 64kbps and tons of artifacts. I grabbed the 128kbps stream URL from iTunes and added the station manually and it sounded WAY better--I had been using their quality stream for a couple years without incident. It stopped working for a couple days recently, but seems to be working as of now.

Only downside is that that 128kbps manual url does not give you the "On now" info telling you the show name.

Excellent support here Avee

Out of curiousity, can I find out from the Sonos controller what the bitrate of a radio stream is?

I mainly listen to KFOG (San Francisco 104.5) through my Sonos and it sounds wonderful (modulo the loud annoying filler (non-ad) that has much higher volume that the real content), but I've tried other stations and found the quality of the stream to be horrid.

One case in point is Alice (97.3 Alice@97.3). When I stream that station it's hollow and screechy and I attribute this to a low bitrate. Is this the most likely the cause? Also, can I see on the controller what the bitrate is?

Thanks!
