I just got the new Apple Airport Express router, and am having trouble setting up my Sonos Play:5
As you might be aware, the new AE unit that was just released last week has a second ethernet port, which my Bridge is plugged into. I had no issues getting my desktop Sonos client to connect / integrate the Bridge onto my Sonos network. But when I try to add my Play:5, it never completes the connection. I try adding it, and it 'finds' an additional Sonos component, but it never completes. Anyone any ideas what's up with that? It was working fine before. |

AndyBarratt,
Power off the Play:5. Wire it to the second Ethernet port on your Bridge. Power up the Play:5 and try again. Assuming everything works, my suspicion is that you were suffering from wireless interference between the new AE and your Sonos. Check the Sonos wireless channel via Manage/Settings/Advanced in the Desktop Controller. Set the AE's 2.4GHz wireless channel to a different channel. To avoid overlaps restrict your choice to only 1, 6 or 11, and don't enable any setting in the AE offering '40MHz', 'wide', or 'up to 300Mbps' operation in the 2.4GHz band. [The FAQ referred to by bphillips09 is for using the AE as an Airplay client only.] |
