Hello
I would like to power off (with a timer) my Sonos (AMP / 3 / 5 / Connect ) as soon as possible to save electricity. Unfortunately I have to recreated the rooms group after a restart. Is there a way to make the affiliation to a room persistent? Thanks for any tips. Best Regards Chris |

No. Zone groupings are not persistent in the same way as stereo pairs (which re-bond on reboot).
There is at least one thread on the Sound Ideas which touches on this topic. Power consumption from idle players is pretty modest, so you could just leave them powered. This is how they're designed to operate, and in fact regularly turning them off and on could reduce their life expectancy. |

Hello
Thank you for your reply. It might be only 4 Watt, but when you have a few of them it might be like a light bulb ligthing all day. And for sure you sold quite a few of these devices all over the world. I think this is really a pity as the first comments / requests are dated 2005.... I am very happy with the hardware of Sonos, but very disappointed about the lack of innovation of the sotware, especially for a device that is not cheap. Best Regards Chris |

As for the idle power consumption of the units, as you say a dozen of them adds up to the equivalent of an incandescent lamp or thereabouts. The annual cost is not that huge. Sonos devices have passing similarities to routers/WAPs in that they're always-on wireless network devices. On that basis their power consumption is not totally unreasonable. |
