Buzz, I've submitted a support ticket and managed to get the unit to submit diagnostics (#2114028, in case you care to look). It would seem very odd if it were a hardware problem since the device has worked flawlessly for the last six years, though a dozen updates, and the device was not touched by anyone at the point it failed. It would need to be a software-induced hardware failure if it's a hardware issue.

Default Update 3.8 causing problems

Since updating to 3.8 I have had nothing but problems with all manner of errors.
Previously my system worked fine but now I can hardly play any music either from Rhapsody or from my music library.
I have tried the recommended reboot of all components but to no avail.

Errors include
Connection to Rhapsody lost
Connection speed insufficient to buffer playback
Track incorrect format
Queue doesn't clear
Can't add to queue.

System is
Bridge
Play3 x 2
Play5
ZP 90
ZP120

Ipad1
Ipad3
IMac
Macbookpro
ITouch gen2

Broadband speed is showing as 5Mgb and 1Mbgb.

Anyone else having problems

Did you power down the whole network (including the router) before starting the router followed by the rest?

play5
Zp 90
Zp 120
iMac
MacBook
iPad
Itouch
Apple Tv

Bizarrely seems to be working fine this morning.

Default Sonos Update 3.8 Major Issues

I am having the same experience after upgrading to 3.8.

I have a network of 22 zones and umpteen controllers that I have been running smoothly for many years.

After upgrading I am getting all sorts of intermittent errors. Examples:
* Music will simply stop and then 10 or 20 seconds later restart.
* Trying to add music I will get an error "Cannot add to queue (1001)". But try again and then it adds the music.
* A couple of my zones simply won't allow themselves to be grouped which I have now turned off in case they are causing any interference.
* Both my Mac and iOS Sonos apps seem to take forever to connect to the network.

Very frustrating.

I'm sorry to say that these symptoms are characteristic of IP duplication, so the guidance offered earlier in this thread applies once again.

Given the size of your installation a clean reboot of the entire network may be something of a chore. If your DHCP server's lease time is set for 24 hours then leave things for a day or so and hopefully the situation may right itself.

Default Sonos Controller for PC 3.8 Display issues

Hi

First post - please be kind

On my computers the latest Controller update does not display any content on the "File" "Manage" "Help" drop down menu (it does however on Edit?). You can select an anonymous option from the drop down menus and this in turn displays an the anonymous option but although the buttons on this option "work" the are also unlabelled. Labels are also missing from 3 buttons on the bottom of the display Pause/Queue/Playlist

I also have not be able to find how to alter the volume on individual linked zones only the group (I can change individual Bass/Treble/Balance)

Any thoughts

Welcome to the forums.

This sounds like a glitch in the Windows graphics library used by the controller. If a PC reboot doesn't clear the problem, uninstall the controller via Control Panel, and download afresh from http://www.sonos.com/support

Click on the volume slider. A window should appear with individual room volume controls. If it doesn't it may be suffering from the same Windows problem as above.

Hi there everone,

I see that I've been having similar problems to several other people since updating to 3.8. I'm not very computer literate so talk of DHCP networks and IP duplication tends to go over my head. I just thought I'd check here first that there wasn't an obvious solution which I could try before raising a support request.

My system:

BT Home Hub 3
Buffalo NAS
ZoneBridge
ZP90 to Sony 820 home cinema amp
CR100 controller
Panasonic DMR PWT-520 wireless HDD/BD
ACER laptop
HP Netbook

Everything was working fine until I upgraded to 3.8 and since then the system refuses to play anything with the usual errors cited above. I tried rebooting the components in the suggested order which seemed to resolve the problem, but 24 hrs later it was throwing the same error messages.

Looking at the router setup page all the network components seem to have unique IP addresses - but to be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I suspect there was some sort of clash with the panasonic device during the reboot.

Not having access to my music collection is a real downer so any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Degsy

To clear any potential addressing issues you must power everything on the network off -- all together -- and then restart each device in turn:

- router
- wired Sonos devices
- wireless Sonos devices
- NAS, wired computers and other wired devices
- WiFi connected devices

Wait for each device to reboot fully before moving to the next.

What makes you think so? Did you see an error message somewhere? Was the Panasonic unit given a fixed IP address when you first installed it?
