A shortcoming of using an Android device outside by the pool is that the screen is difficult to see in the bright sun.
I heard there is a hack for the Sony PRS-T1 e-ink reader to turn it into an Android tablet. Has anyone tried to run the Sonos app on this hacked unit? For a Sonos controller, I don't think you need a fast screen refresh rate and I am not that interested in color for album artwork. If it works I would definitely purchase one. |

I also have a T1, but I haven't root'd it yet or done any of the mods..... I'm not sure how the controller would look on the screen, but I certainly think it would be "slow".....
Maybe I'll have to jump on the ebook forums and see what I can see...... |

The Nook Simple Touch is another candidate for this test.
Anybody have one they would like to test out? I see rooting instructions on http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/8/293...ultitouch-hack to set this up. |

I am not so sure that the sliding gestures you use to scroll through lists would work very well on a slow screen.
Also, the wireless will be on constantly, and the screen might also be refreshing constantly if there is a scrolling title or a progress bar on the screen. So the time on the battery might be greatly reduced. I imagine it would work on those displays, but it is far from ideal, and only for occasional use. When buying a tablet to use primarily as a controller, I would prefer a regular screen.
