Default Spotify Features

...Because someone has to say it...

First of all, I LOVE Spotify on Sonos! The sound quality and access to my playlists is amazing

(But...)

Here's what I would like to see - add your votes, and maybe Spotify will open up their API a little more!

- Spotify Radio
- New Releases
- Spotify Social (so I can browse my friends' playlists)
- Inbox

GUI improvements:

- All playlists under 'Playlists' menu item
- Support Playlist Folders - it's getting a bit cluttered on my CR100!

I'll mention that if you add friends on the PC client and subscribe to their playlists, they will show up on Sonos. Yes it would be nice to control this from Sonos direcly.

If you add the user "spotify" to your friends list, you can access their playlists and there are some new releases/top 100's and other interesting ones.

Cheers,

Keith

I didn't know about the user "spotify", that's a great tip.

I'm following a few playlists from "topisfy", and a fair few tracks show as unavailable (note icon with line through) on Sonos. Eg: Katy Perry - Teenage Dream, The Script - For The First Time.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

This is because those particular tracks are only licensed to a particular zone/country.

I'm in the UK, and can play them fine from the desktop client.

If I search I can find the artist, album & play the track no problems.

Yes, but the particular tracks in that playlist may have been added from a listing in another country. There are often multiple versions of tracks available. I've had a look at the Topsify playlists and there are a lot of tracks I can't play from the desktop client. If you search for the tracks though, it will only return tracks you CAN play.

Weird, as the only track that's not available in the Topsify UK TOP 40 Chart that show unavailable for me is I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It) - Vocal Edit by Alex Gaudino.

I'm also a bit miffed that if I start streaming to my iPhone or Desktop Client, the music to the Sonos stops.

I know in the FAQ it says "You may be logged in to Spotify from several computers simultaneously, but you can only play music on one computer at a time. The music at your other computers will automatically be paused." but I kinda hoped that Sonos wouldn't count as a 'computer'.

Spotify have come back with pretty much what you said Dash -
"The Spotify client automagically finds a playable replacement in your country. Sonos doesn't do that (yet)."

:-(

You can play as many streams as you like on Sonos, why would you want to play on the iPhone concurrently?

My wife could be at home listening to music on the Sonos, and I could be at work using my iPhone or desktop client! Unfortunately my Sonos can't follow me around (glad my wife can't! )

This wasn't a problem with Napster (apart from the lack of an iPhone app), but Spotify seems to be one account = one stream. I'm loathe to setup a dedicated Spotify account just for my Sonos & pay another £10/month and then have to mess around making sure I subscribe to my own playlists.

I can understand that they don't want you putting your account details on a mate's computer, so they can effectively use the service for free. But hoped they would be slightly more lenient...
