Default Sonos Connect with Audio Pro LV2e and Audio Pro WF100

Hi,

I want to buy a Sonos Connect, but I am nervous that my wireless speakers (Audio Pro LV2e) will affect (or be affected from) the Sonos devise. Currently my wifi internet connection comes and goes a bit because of the speakers' wireless device (Audio Pro WF100) and I am afraid adding the Sonos Connect could further influence this. Does anyone out there know if this is the case or not?

Welcome to the forums.

The use of spread-spectrum techniques in the crowded 2.4GHz band can indeed cause issues, as you've witnessed with the way your WiFi behaves. At the physical radio level Sonos is basically WiFi so it's likely to be affected too.

Sonos (or any other streaming application) is more susceptible to interference problems owing to the time-sensitive nature of the data. Routine Internet browsing is obviously less of an issue as data can if necessary be re-sent transparently, and all you detect is a slower connection. With streaming if the data doesn't arrive in time the audio drops out.

Reports on these forums from users of third party 2.4GHz wireless audio -- subwoofers, headphones, etc -- suggest you may well run into problems. I'm afraid you'd just need to try things.

Stepping back for a second, why and how would you still wish to use your Audio Pro kit if you acquired a Sonos wireless system anyway?

Thanks for the answer. I will have to think how I will now justify buying that Sonos Connect... Some way I will :-)

If all of your SONOS units are wired to the network, the only WiFi risk is that the system may be difficult to control from wireless controllers or computers.

(Remember, at least one SONOS unit must be wired to your network)
