Hi there
I've been reading around trying to find an answer to this but I haven't found anything. I have iTunes on my laptop. I have a ReadyNAS Duo. My music is cloned to the NAS media share using RSync. Sonos reads off the NAS no problems. Thing is even though it sees the itunes playlists (I can see them under "Imported Playlists") when I try to play one I get a file not found error. Perhaps playlist track location is based on laptop location... is there a way around this? Other than that loving my Sonos!!! |

Check out DarrenLink's iTunes Library Manager. I think this will let you substitute the correct NAS paths into the playlists.

ChazzaDE,
As far as iTunes is concerned, your library is on the computer and it prepares the playlists accordingly. If you simply copy the library to the NAS, the playlists will be included, but still point to files on the computer. Here are some general iTunes considerations. Probably the easiest solution is to move the iTunes library to your NAS and keep a backup copy on the computer. |

Hey Ratty - thanks for that - but I forgot to say I am on a mac
![]() Buzz cheers for the link. It seems moving the library is the easiest thing but I don't really want to do that - have done it in the past (years ago - using a WD Netcentre then more recently the ReadyNAS Duo) and it always presented problem one way or another. I think I need something like Ratty's link but for mac... Anyways not the end of the world I can always just shuffle on genre or use Deezer or Last.FM. Thanks anyways. |

I operate my iTunes library on PC and sync to a WD nas and got a file not found error with playlists also. Sonos was looking for the files on the nas but not able to find the right path. I got round this by replicating the exact path on my PC on my nas which seemed to solve things.
Some possible issues from this: I'm concerned that having a longer than necessary path might store up more space in the library and make me hit the limit sooner (but I'm a long way off that) and it means music isn't in the folder the media server on my nas wants it to be (but then I don't really use this having Sonos). It's worked for me so far. Don't know if this will work in your set up. |

ChazzaDE,
For the short term I suggest that you do not update to Lion. At this point Lion cannot access most 3rd party NAS drives. |

Hey Rich24 - thanks for the suggestion - I will have a try with that and see if it works. I'll post back to update the thread.
Buzz thank you for the advice. I bought my MBP just before they switched from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo so I can't update anyway! I had the same problem I think when I updated from Tiger to Leopard, if I remember correctly. Thanks again. |

I have exactly the same setup. iTunes on iMac, rsync to a share on a ReadyNAS Duo. My playlists work without having make any alterations to the iTunes library XML. I think as long as the directory structure on the NAS share is the same as on the mac, Sonos seems to pick up the playlist info.
I posted my script in this thread back in Sep http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=17327 |

Thanks Jambuie - haven't had time to change anything yet but by the sounds of things it will work so I'll make some time soon. Thanks for your help.
