Hi,
I have just bought my Sonos system (2 x S5 + Zone Bridge) and installed the controller on my HTC desire controller - all worked OK and sounded great. I them tried to install the controller on my girlfriends iPhone and it wouldn't connect to the system. Now my HTC wont connect either! I've rebooted, disconnected and reinstalled all software and apps numerous times but neither the iPhone or HTC will connect. Also the Zone Bridge wouldn't connect without the router being connected via Ethernet to my laptop (even though it was fine wirelessly first time). Any ideas??? All firewalls are off and I have disconnected all other wireless items (e.g. Vodafone Sure Signal). PS I am not very technical (hence the appeal of the system) so plain English please ;-) Thanks |

I had a similar issue after buying my ZP120 at the weekend.. it may have been coincidence, but the only time it worked for me was when I pressed the buttons (mute + vol.up) on the ZP120 before starting the search on my phone..

There are multiple possibilities, but the first thing to check is whether your WiFi is in conflict with Sonos for a wireless channel.
Set your WiFi to a different channel to Sonos, restricting your choice to 1, 6 or 11. If the WiFi offers a '40MHz', 'wide', 'turbo', 'up to 270/300Mbps' or similar option then disable it and select '20MHz' or 'standard'. |

Thanks that worked (setting WiFi to 1 and Sonos to 11) and was fine yesterday. However this morning my girlfriends iPod works but my HTC is constantly searching for the zone players.
Its so infuriating!!! |

What router are you using?

There is no wifi interference (sonos on channel 11, wifi computers on channel 1, no other wifi units any where in the local airspace), I could control the sonos just fine from a windows 7 laptop that was connected wire-lessly, etc. I fooled around for a long time. I tried the other app, Sonos Widget, but while it would install, it wouldn't run at all. Finally I tried this suggestion... pressing the "join zone" buttons (mute and vol.up) BEFORE strating up the Android sonos controller app. That worked like a charm. YMMV. I don't claim to be any sort of Android expert because I am just over a week into an ATRIX, but I have had no trouble with the SONOS controller app. (as long as I remember to turn ON the WiFi)
It would be a good idea for users to mention which phone they are using when reporting success or failure. |

I didn't have any problems at all at my house, but the same tablet at my parent's house had lots of problems making a connection. Besides the "press mute, vol.up first" trick, I've had success starting the sonos app, then pressing the Android menu softkey, which seems to unstick the search for zone players. |

bigjoesmith,
In your case I think that you ran into "household ID" issues. When a new SONOS system is first registered, it is given a "household ID". Only units with the same household ID will operate together. Unless you started your parents system as an extension of your own system, your Galaxy will be ignored by your parents system. (And you will experience the same issue after you bring the Galaxy home) When you get home, reset the Galaxy's SONOS controller, and use the application's setup procedure again (along with Mute/Vol +). |
