i have an old zp100 and cr100. my zp100 is not wireless and is connected via ethernet to broadband. it connects to a wd drive and internet ok.
my question is, how can best expand this so that i can get music into another room. i was looking at the s5 unit but not sure how it would work as my zp100 is wireless, or what other options would i have. i liked the look of the s5 as it an all in one unit. thanks in advance |

Just buy an S5 and you'll be fine (as long as your wired ZP100 isn't too far away etc.) The fact that you wired your ZP100 doesn't mean that its SonosNet is switched off.

The cheapest way would be to buy a zonebridge and have that as your wired zone then move your ZP100 to where you were going to put the new unit.

Just buy an S5 you then get to keep the music where you have it now and the S5 can serve the other room. All sonos equipment is backwardly compatible.
Just make sure you have updated the sonos software to version 3.1 (if you haven't) this will ensure compatibility with the S5 Jason |

i guess it depends what your goal is. I assumed from your original post that you wanted to keep music in the first room AND add another room. If that is the case, you do NOT want to replace it with a bridge, as that just moves the music from room1 to room2 and you then no longer have music in room1. Keep things as they are, and add any zone player that makes the most sense to your needs. Wireless will be fine so long as you are within range and don't have an insane amount of wifi interference. I have a half-dozen zones in my house and only the first is wired. works like a charm. so well in fact that I hook other devices into the zp units to access the internet and my network
